Farm Frites S.A.

It is with great pleasure that we welcome one of the world’s largest potato producers, Farm Frites S.A., as a new member of the Foundation for Corporate Social Responsibility. We will award Farm Frites with our Foundation’s Gold Seal of Approval as a socially responsible company at our Foundation’s CEO Breakfast at the Warsaw Sheraton on Friday September 10, 2010.

Farm Frites Poland S.A. was established in 1994 as a joint venture of two Dutch companies: Farm Frites BV and Aviko BV. The factory was located in Lebork because of the local climate and soil, perfectly suited to the growing of potatoes (I Class of Potato Health).

Farm Frites is ranked third worldwide in the processing of potatoes. With eight factories in Europe, Egypt and Argentina, and 17 Sales Offices (including China, Guatemala, Brazil and Poland), the company employs 1,800 employees and sells its products to over 40 countries worldwide. We are pleased that they provide French fries to two of our Foundation’s largest member restaurant chains, McDonald’s and AmRest.

At that time the company began, it employed 180 employees, including several Dutch specialists. The latter group worked towards implementing the highest international standards of production at the site, yet their primary aim was to train Polish workers who could quickly take over their responsibilities. Thanks to the high skills and ambition of Polish employees this goal was achieved very quickly.

Every year more than 1.5 million tons of potatoes are produced in 30 different types of potato products. All products from Farm Frites feature a traditional look, and are full of potato flavor. Farm Frites has become the exclusive supplier of fries for McDonald’s in Egypt and Argentina.

As a part of the Farm Frites membership agreement with our Foundation, Farm Frites will also supply French Fries to our PromiseKids in our 15 PromiseLand schools. They are working closely with our PromiseKitchen to provide French Fries to our PromiseKids right after our schools reconvene after the summer holidays on Wednesday. What a very special treat for our kids who know very little about French Fries.
