No matter what time of the year it is, Pelikan Polska remembers to help make like better for our PromiseKids. Pelikan recently moved their offices and decided to give their furniture (7 desks, 3 cabinets, 3 bookcases, a scanner, and 2 monitors) to our Foundation’s PromiseSchool Nowe Worowo. They also sent big boxes of school supplies including markers, pens, pencils, crayons, etc.
I thought our members would like to read the letter Agnieszka Oleszczuk, Principal of the Nowe Worowo schools, sent to Pelikan.
Thank you very much for beautiful furniture we received from Pelikan Polska. We replaced our old and used desks in all classrooms with beautiful and bright colored desks. The smaller desks where used in our library. I have to say that now our classrooms look wonderful and very modern! We love it!
The Principal, all the teachers, employees and students of our school send a huge thank you to PELIKAN POLSKA for your help and support.
The Principle of Nowe Worowo School
Our two Reagan Legacy Scholars Andrzej Mikulko and Marcin Raulin came to Warsaw last week to apply for their U.S. Visas. It turned out to be an incredible adventure thanks to Christian Henkemeier (below right and bottom) and his great staff of InterContinental professionals who hosted them during their stay. Although the boys don’t leave for Washington, D.C. until August 1st, they had to make all arrangements to get their U.S. Visas last Monday. I’m happy to tell you that they were successful, and the Visas will be waiting for them when they return to Warsaw in August.
You will recall that they were selected to participate in the Reagan Legacy Tour of the United States this summer from a pool of former PromiseKids who had participated in our Foundation’s Interactive English Program “Dreams Come True.” The criteria for selection was formative and Andrzej and Marcin were selected from the rigorous competition.
Two-hundred forty-six sixth-grade PromiseKids took the trip of their young lives last week thanks to the generosity of our great member company McDonald’s. These PromiseKids will graduate from Elementary School to “Middle School" in just a few days, and McDonald’s helped them celebrate in a way they didn’t think possible.
For the 7th year in a row, our super member company McDonald’s hosted a graduation trip to the seaside (Kolobrzeg) for all of our sixth-grade graduates from our 15 PromiseLand schools. And what a logistical effort it was! Six busses took part in the operation and transported groups of the PromiseKids from the 15 schools on June 6th and continued the effort all week until all of our sixth graders made the trip.
Although it is only 50 Kilometers to the Baltic seaside, very few of our 246 PromiseKids have ever ventured this far from their small home villages. Most of the PromiseKids had never seen the Baltic, had never been aboard a boat, been inside a movie theater, frequented a shopping mall, played on a beach, or dined at McDonald’s.
A lot of thought and planning had gone into this PromiseKid adventure by McDonald’s President Piotr Jucha, Director of Operations Krzysztof Klapa, and PR Director Marcin Dabrowski of Twenty-Four-Seven PR.
Thank you McDonald’s… You are the best!
