FOOD FOR THOUGHT

“If we can learn one thing from the Age of Greed, it is that we have immense power to make change happen on a monumental scale, and with lightning speed. Greed has proved to be a high octane fuel in the rocket engine of globalization. But ultimately, it was an economic missile without a moral guidance system. I am under no illusions that the Age of Responsibility will vanquish greed. No doubt, the selfish gene will continue to spark our evolution. And yet, if we are successful, the Age of Responsibility will provide capitalism with that much-needed moral compass and Transformative CSR will provide business with a mission-critical social purpose.”

Quote from Dr. Wayne Visser, Director of the think-tank CSR International, from his most recent book,

The Age of Responsibility.

1% OF YOUR INCOME TAX BURDEN FOR OUR PROMISEKIDS

At the urging of our Foundation’s Advisory Council, we have applied to become a Public Benefit Organization (OPP) under Polish Tax Law. We expect to be approved in the next few weeks. We thank Foundation Member Law Firm Norton Rose for preparing the necessary legal paperwork for this change in legal status.

The Public Benefit and Volunteer Work Act provides an opportunity for our members and friends to donate 1% of their personal income tax to support the work of our Foundation in feeding, educating and empowering poor children in Poland.

Since it is almost time to file annual personal income tax returns in Poland, we would like to remind our readers that all Polish taxpayers can donate 1% of their tax burden to a public benefit organization. By donating 1% of your tax due, you can support our Foundation under Polish tax law.

The Public Benefit Act is based on the premise that Instead of paying the Revenue Office you can support our Foundation. We encourage all of you to make your 1% tax pledge to our Foundation for Corporate Social Responsibility and to encourage your family, friends and employees to do the same. Remember, 4 PLN provides one hot meal for one hungry PromiseKid.

We will keep you posted on details as the Polish tax season approaches.

WE CAN NOW ACCEPT DONATIONS TO OUR FOUNDATION WITH PAYPAL

We are pleased that we can now accept donations for our Foundation from every part of the world and in all currencies through PayPal.

PayPal is an American-based global e-commerce business allowing payments and money transfers to be made through the Internet. Online money transfers serve as electronic alternatives to paying with traditional paper methods, such as checks and money orders. Anybody with a credit card can make a contribution to our Foundation by just clicking on the PayPal icon found on our Foundation’s website www.fcsr.pl, or on our weekly newsletters.

P&G ALWAYS THERE TO HELP OUR PROMISEKIDS

We received a 4 euro pallet delivery of personal care products and cleaning supplies from P&G for our PromiseKids and PromiseSchools this week. The P&G truck contained Blend a Med Toothpaste, tooth brushes, Pampers, Fairy Dish Washing Powder, Areil, Vizir, Bonux, Ariel Professional Stain Remover, Ace, Always, Naturella Sanitary Towels, Pantene Shampoo, and Head & Shoulders Shampoo.

These items make a major contribution to the health and welfare of our PromiseKids and we are truly grateful.

We thank you Marek and all the good folks at P&G for this very generous and useful contribution to our PromiseLand. You guys are the very best.

OUTSOURCING OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE PROMISELAND

Various members of our Foundation’s Advisory Council have been discussing the possibility of providing employment opportunities for our PromiseKids and their families. Our PromiseLand is a place ravaged by structural un-employment reaching 80%. This unemployment has created in an area of extreme poverty and hungry children. It’s hard to imagine that this could happen right in the middle of the European Union.

We want to help by providing job opportunities to some of our most needy families. Because of budget constraints, the Polish Government recently closed 2 of our 15 PromiseLand Schools this year, and moved the children into the remaining 13 schools in our program. These 2 unused facilities are now available to us to begin offering outsourcing jobs to some of our PromiseFamilies.

We realize that many of our member companies have outsourcing jobs available and would like to help us in our efforts. These jobs can consist of data entry positions, telephone bank support, etc.

To this end, Advisory Council member Craig Smith, President of EuroProperty, has been selected to explore the outsourcing opportunities available among our Foundation Member Companies. He will be contacting our Foundation’s CEOs this week to explore potential opportunities for this project.

We thank you in advance for your support in this effort.
