FOOD FOR THOUGHT

“In business ethics the argument is often put forward that we should lead from virtue. Virtue is prescribed as the good person’s engine for doing right. Acting form virtue, it has been said by Aristotle, Confucius, and St Thomas Aquinas, will make the world better. It is assumed that by acting right, business success will follow.”

STARTING THE NEW YEAR WITH A NEW COOPERATING MEMBER ORGANIZATION – THE REAGAN LEGACY FOUNDATION

We are delighted to announce that the Reagan Legacy Foundation has become a Cooperating Member Organization of our Foundation for Corporate Social Responsibility. The Reagan Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Michael Reagan, son of the former US President Ronald Reagan.

The organization seeks to advance the causes President Reagan held dear and to memorialize the accomplishments of his presidency. Ronald Reagan’s unwavering dedication to individual liberty and democracy are the primary focus of the Foundation’s work. In 2008, the organization launched a global initiative to educate youth about the vital role Ronald Reagan played in the fall of communism and the spread of democracy throughout the world.

In the summer of 2008, the Foundation commenced the Liberty Education Tours, an exciting student exchange program offering future leaders tangible education in the principles of liberty, as they study the words and actions of President Reagan and other great leaders, while visiting sites significant in the history of freedom in the United States and abroad.

We have been honored to have three of our Foundation’s PromiseKids participate in the Reagan Liberty Tours to the United States over the past two years, and Michael Reagan has promised that he will include more of our Foundation’s PromiseKids in future Liberty Tours.

We are very proud to have the Reagan Legacy Foundation as a Cooperating Member Organization of our Foundation. We will award the Legacy Foundation with our Foundation’s Gold Seal of Approval at our Annual Dinner Dance at the Warsaw Hilton on February 13th.

MAKRO CASH & CARRY COLLECTS ENOUGH MONEY TO PROVIDE 4,000 HOT-MEALS FOR OUR PROMISEKIDS.

I can’t remember a time when the good folks at Foundation Member Makro Cash & Carry didn’t say yes to our Foundation and our PromiseKids. This past holiday was no exception. For the 5th year in a row, Makro conducted a 2-week Christmas collection for our PromiseKids in all 18 Makro stores. We are proud to announce that they collected enough money to feed our PromiseKids 4000 hot-meals.

Makro Cash & Carry is a member of the 3rd largest retail group in the world, the Metro Group, and is a wholesaler offering a food and non-food product mix to its registered card-holding customers in a national network of Makro stores in Poland. Makro is a unique food and non-food concept, offering a wholesale solution to professional business needs.

Makro General Manager for Poland, Sylweriusz Faruga, said: “We are committed to the Foundation’s Hot-Meal Program, and it was our pleasure to support you with our Christmas Campaign for the 5th year in a row.”

EIGHTH ANNUAL DINNER DANCE IS JUST OVER A MONTH AWAY

8th Annual Dinner DanceIt's hard to believe that our Foundation’s eighth Annual Dinner Dance, “What a Wonderful World” is just a short 5-weeks away. All tables have been spoken for by Foundation members and friends and we expect to host an incredible party for our guests in the Grand Ball Room of the Warsaw Hilton Hotel and Convention Center on Monday, February 13th. Festivities get underway at 18:30 with cocktails, followed by an incredible musical production by our PromiseKids. An award-winning five-star Hilton dinner will delight our guests and prepare them for an exciting evening of dancing to the music of the “best band in the land,” 36.6. Did I mention that all beer and wine will be provided this year by Foundation Member Company Kompania Piwowarska?

Now, we need your help! We wrote to all table-holders this week asking for the names of their invited guests. Please, get the names of your table guests to Natalie as soon as possible at FCSR@chasey.ipgate.pl. We have a stand-by list of guests that we need to seat, and we will be sure that every seat in the ballroom will be filled. Please let Natalie know if you have any empty seats at your table so we can be sure every chair is occupied when the curtain rises on February 13th.

Our Dinner Dance is an after-work affair and the dress code is business attire. It is not a black-tie event!

We look forward to seeing you all on February 13th at 18:30. A super time will be had by all.

The award’s venue was packed with representatives from all over the CEE region to applaud the 40 finalists across 10 categories as the prestigious trophies were handed out to loud cheers from winners and their guests.

Office developments from throughout the region dominated the awards, with the majority of them being recognized for their various stages of certification. Foundation Member Ghelamco picked up more than one award for its various “Green” projects in Poland.

NEW OUTREACH PROGRAM TO POLISH AMERICAN ORGANIZATIONS

The photo below shows me presenting our Foundation’s Gold Seal of Approval to Director of the Polish American Film Society, Vladek Juszkiewicz earlier this week in Hollywood, California. The Polish American Film Society recently became a Cooperating Member Organization of our Foundation.

Foundation Advisory Council Member Craig Smith and I met with Vladek to discuss the Film Society’s participation in a variety of fundraising activities to support our Foundation in the United States. We agreed that we will participate in the Film Society’s 2012 Annual Polish American Film Festival from October 9-19th in Hollywood. We will sponsor a lottery during the Festival to benefit our hot-meal program for our Foundation’s PromiseKids.

As a result of our success with the Polish American Film Society, we have decided to initiate a North American Campaign to add additional Polish American Organizations and Groups as Cooperating Member Organizations of our Foundation. Each organization will commit to conduct one fundraising campaign each year to support our Foundation’s Hot-Meal Program for hungry Polish Children.

We look forward to your response to our new program. Let me know if you can recommend Polish American Organizations and Groups for us to contact.
