"The greatest discovery of all time is that a person can change his future by merely changing his attitude."
-- Oprah Winfrey
It is important for all of us to do our part this Earth Day, and exciting Earth Day events are an opportunity for us all to build on our own commitment, and make greener choices throughout the year.
Our Foundation’s PromiseKids have been watching preparations for EURO 2012 from afar for almost two years now. Unfortunately, their chances of actually attending the festivities this June are less than likely. Well, thanks to the vision of Christian Henkemeier, General Manager of the 5-Star InterContinental Hotel in Warsaw, our PromiseKids will be able to participate in the month long festivities in a most unique way.
Here’s what Christian and his staff are planning… The 450 square meter Hemisphere Restaurant and Bar will be transformed into “SoccerWorld” from June 8th right through the EURO2012 final. SoccerWorld will have a special stadium feel with all Euro Cup games presented live on giant screens. As if this isn’t enough, food and drinks, as only the InterContinental chefs can prepare them will be constant throughout the entire month-long extravaganza from 16:00 to 02:30 each day.
Now for the special news! In honor of our PromiseKids, the InterContinental Hotel will donate 100 PLN to our Foundation’s Hot-Meal Program for each goal scored by all teams during the course of the 24 game EURO 2012 series. Now, that’s a major WOW!
If you happen to have premium tickets to the EURO 2012 series, we expect you to attend the games in person. If not, we expect that you will cheer your favorite teams on at SoccerWorld in the InterContinental Hotel. What an incredible bonus, cheer your team…feed our kids!
Some teams may win, and some teams may lose, but our PromiseKids will always win.
Make your reservations now to be sure there is a table ready for you and your special friends at EURO 2012. Call (22) 328 8772.
We’ve been appealing to our members and friends to help us support our Interactive English language program, “Dreams Come True.” We would like to reward our 250 program graduates with a Polish/English Dictionary for successfully completing the year-long program. Each Dictionary costs 50 PLN, or $70.00 USD if you use PayPal below.
I received a note this morning from our very dear friend and British School Parent Teachers Association stalwart Jenny Norden. Yes, she’s the very same Jenny Norden who is conducting the British School clothing/shoe drive for our PromiseKids. (See dates to remember below)
Well, it seems that the British School conducted a Quiz Night last night. It was a very major success with the Primary School Teacher’s table winning first place. No wonder those British School kids do so well! Jenny reported that the British School also conducted a raffle for our Dictionary drive and raised 3,500 PLN for our PromiseKids. If your calculator is not close at hand, that’s 70 dictionaries for our “Dreams Come True” English students.
We can’t thank you enough British School. Just goes to show what an incredible difference one leader can make,
thanks Jenny Norden!
Just like clockwork, the Fanex delivery truck pulled up to our PromiseKitchen door with a delivery of Fanex products for our Promisekids. What a time our staff will have preparing just the right meals for our kids using the 120 units of ketchup, 200 units of tomato concentrate, 40 units of Danish dressing, and 60 units of mayonnaise. Halina, our kitchen Director promises some very special tomato soup during the first few weeks of the school year.
This is the third year that Foundation member company Fanex has provided these valuable products to our PromiseKids, and we are very grateful. We don’t know how to thank you enough Fanex, Roman, and Piotr Kubiczek for helping our PromiseKids. You guys are the best…!
We are frequently approached by individuals who would like to help support our Foundation’s Hot-Meal Program. Our Dollar A Day program may be just what you have been looking for.
We pay just about $1.00 to feed one hungry Polish child a hot-meal per school day, $20.00 per month, $200.00 per year. Click PayPal below to contribute.
