"Just because I laugh a lot, doesn't mean my life is easy. Just because I have a smile on my face every day, doesn't mean that something is not bothering me. I just choose to move on, and not dwell on all the negatives in my life. Every new moment gives me the chance to renew anew. I choose to be that."

CSR FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Throughout the economic downturn and continuing recovery, individuals and organizations have looked to the volunteer sector to address community needs. While nonprofits have stepped in to help, the challenge of how civic engagement can build a stronger economy, more highly skilled and versatile workers, and create economic benefits for communities remains.

KEEP SCORING THOSE EURO 2012 GOALS FOR OUR PROMISEKIDS

It was a good day for our Hot-Meal program yesterday when 7 goals were scored in the Euro 2012 championships. That means that the InterContinental Hotel Warsaw will donate 700 PLN to our Foundation to feed poor hungry Polish Children in our Foundation’s PromiseLand. Yes, England rallied to beat Sweden on Friday 3-2, and France beat Ukraine 2-0 for a total of 7 goals.

Thanks to the vision of Christian Henkemeier, General Manager of the 5-Star InterContinental Hotel in Warsaw, football fans can enjoy EURO 2012 from the cool and comfort of the 450 square meter Hemisphere Restaurant and Bar of the InterContinental Hotel. The Hemisphere will be transformed into SoccerWorld and will have a special stadium feel with all Euro Cup games presented live on giant screens. As if this isn’t enough, food and drinks, as only the InterContinental chefs can prepare them will be constant throughout the entire month-long extravaganza from 16:00 to 02:30 each day.

In honor of our PromiseKids, the InterContinental Hotel will donate 100 PLN to our Foundation’s Hot-Meal Program for each goal scored by all teams during the course of the 24 game EURO 2012 series. Now, that’s a major WOW!

Here is your chance to cheer your favorite teams at SoccerWorld and help feed our PromiseKids at the same time. Some teams may win, and some teams may lose, but our PromiseKids will always win thanks to the InterContinental Hotel.

Make your reservations now to be sure there is a table ready for you and your special friends at EURO 2012.

MCDONALD’S DOES IT AGAIN – WHAT A TRIP IT WAS FOR OUR PROMISEKIDS

Two-hundred -six sixth-grade PromiseKids took the trip of their young lives last week thanks to the generosity of our great member company McDonald’s. These PromiseKids will graduate from Elementary School to “Middle School" in just a few days, and McDonald’s helped them celebrate in a way they didn’t think possible.

For the 8th year in a row, our super member company McDonald’s hosted a graduation trip to the seaside (Kolobrzeg) for all of our sixth-grade graduates from our 13 PromiseLand schools. And what a logistical effort it was! Six busses took part in the operation and transported groups of the PromiseKids from the 13 schools on June 11th and continued the effort all week until all 206 of our sixth graders made the trip.

Although it is only 50 Kilometers to the Baltic seaside, very few of our PromiseKids have ever ventured this far from their small home villages. Most of the PromiseKids had never seen the Baltic, had never been aboard a boat, been inside a movie theater, frequented a shopping mall, played on a beach, or dined at McDonald’s.

A lot of thought and planning had gone into this PromiseKid adventure by McDonald’s President Piotr Jucha, Director of Operations Krzysztof Klapa, and Junior Account Manager Karolina Podyma of Twenty-Four-Seven PR.

Thank you McDonald’s… You are the best!

NEXT WEEK’S NEWSLETTER WILL BE OUR GRADUATION ISSUE AND THE LAST ONE OF THIS SCHOOL YEAR

June 29th is the end of the school year, and what a wonderful year it has been. We are very proud of all the accomplishments our Foundation has made to improve the lives of our very special PromiseKids. We have, however, never lost sight of our major goal of providing a nourishing meal each school day to the poor kids in our 13 PromiseLand Schools. We trust that our Foundation Members feel the same pride that we do, and will look forward to the next school year with eager enthusiasm.
