"I love people who make me laugh. I honestly think it's the thing I like most, to laugh. It cures a multitude of ills. It's probably the most important thing in a person."

What do you say when someone donates a new Ford Transit FT 280M Trend Van to your front door? Please let me know because I was speechless. Just when our existing Athlon Van was beginning to feel the wear and tear of transversing the back roads of the PromiseLand, Eric Van Vliet, GM of Athlon called to tell us to bring it back and exchange it for a brand new vehicle. Now, that’s a major WOW!
Delivery day was a very special day for Natalie, Meg and Basia as they took possession of the new van from Athlon’s Assistant Operations Director, Michal Figel and the great Athlon staff in Koszalin. (See Photo Above) Natalie reports that the new van is bigger, longer and more comfortable and has a very large trunk.
The Athlon van means so much to our successful operations in the PromiseLand. It is the work-horse of our activities. It transports our staff to and from our 13 PromiseLand schools; it transports our PromiseKids to and from special events, and helps from time to time with the Hot-meal deliveries to our PromiseKids.

The top 15 scholars from our PromiseLand schools were the guests of the InterContinental Hotel in Warsaw from August 10-13th. Each of our PromiseLand Schools selected their best all-around student to qualify as InterContinental Scholars and boarded a bus for a trip of a lifetime.
This was the 5th year in a row that the InterContinental Hotel hosted the InterContinental Scholars Program for our PromiseKids. The kids graduated from their respective schools and prepared for this life-changing 3-night 4 day trip they will never forget. We speak for all the Scholars when we say: "InterContinental, you are the best!" We thought you would like to see the faces of these great kids as they experienced the InterContinental life in Warsaw:
Thanks to the vision of Christian Henkemeier, General Manager of the 5-Star InterContinental Hotel in Warsaw, football fans enjoyed EURO 2012 from the cool and comfort of the 450 square meter Hemisphere Restaurant and Bar located in the InterContinental Hotel. The Hemisphere was transformed into "SoccerWorld," and had a special stadium feeling with all Euro Cup games presented live on giant TV screens.
In honor of our PromiseKids, the InterContinental Hotel donated 100 PLN to our Foundation’s Hot-Meal Program for each goal scored by all teams during the course of the 24 game EURO 2012 series. There were 78 goals scored in all games, and our Foundation’s bank account was 7,800 PLN richer as a result. Now, that’s a major WOW!
Thanks again Christian for this special gift to our Hot-Meal Program.
After joining the European Union, Poland began losing the generation of Poles born at the end of the 70s and the beginning of the 80s. They left the country in pursuit of jobs and better opportunities. Now that they found those opportunities, they are taking their children outside of Poland with them. According to data from the Polish Census Bureau some two million Poles lived abroad at the end of March, 2012. Some 11 percent of that number or 220,000 individuals were children under the age of 14. Krystyna Iglicka, economist and demographer estimates that now the number has reached 300,000.- Dziennik Gazeta Prawna.
