"There is no passion to be found playing small -- in settling
for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living."
-- Nelson Mandela

Although we have added some programs to the Foundation’s mission in the PromiseLand over the last ten years, our number one priority remains the Hot Meal-A-Day Program. Children cannot be successful in school without a healthy body and an active mind. And to this day, our hot meal is for many of our kids, the only hot meal they receive on a daily basis. Cooking those meals and distributing them to our ten schools every school day is a Herculean task, but thanks to Halina and Henryk Dziubak and their staff, it magically gets done. To borrow from the US mailman’s oath: Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night (and we’ll add), nor dangerous country roads…stops our PromiseKitchen staff from feeding our kids!

HALINA AND HENRYK DZIUBAK- PROMISEKITCHEN DIRECTORS

Since the very beginning, Bar Samoobslugowy "Smakosz" has administered our Hot Meal- A- Day program. Halina and Henryk Dziubak are responsible for taking care of all arrangements related to supplying, cooking, serving, cleaning and accounting for each meal.

Halina and Henryk have been married for 35 years. They have four children and nine grandchildren. The oldest grandson is 21 years old and the youngest is 3. They share similar interests in music, cooking and traveling.

Halina is 62 years old. Her biggest interests are singing and traveling. When she finds some free time, she loves to gather her family together, have a bar-b-que in her lovely garden and sing karaoke with all the family.

“We love music and we love to sing! My husband plays the guitar and I play the keyboard. We enjoy spending our time together. I also love to travel. Last year we went to Israel with our church group. ” – Halina.

Halina looks back: “I remember when I first met Bill. We met at the Brzezno School. I couldn’t believe that an American wanted to help children in Poland!

I respect Bill and have to say that he is one of the best people I have ever met in my life. He loves children so much and always tries to help poor people.

Our children love the Foundation. They can’t imagine their lives without it! I know that the meal they receive every school day means so much to them. It’s a great help for their parents who can not always afford a good, hot meal for their children.”

“I love my job, even though it’s very hard. We get up very early, at 4:30, every school day and by 5:15 we are already in the kitchen. We peel potatoes, carrots, and prepare meals for all the schools. Our staff is very dedicated to the Foundation and the children. They know our PromiseKids very well and they are proud to be a part of the Foundation”

Henryk is 61 years old. He is responsible for supplying our PromiseKitchen and delivering meals to each school. His interests are playing tennis, swimming and riding his motorcycle. Henryk and Halina grew up in the villages near Swidwin, so Henryk knows the roads very well.

“I try to help my wife as much as I can. It’s the 10th year that we have worked for the Foundation. Time goes by so fast. I have so many good memories of all the wonderful things the Foundation has done for our children. They need this help so much. Everything is so expensive now, and prices are higher and higher. The families are poor and I’m happy when we can help them, not only with providing the hot meals, but also providing clothes, cleaning supplies and other things from FCSR member companies.” –Henryk.

We have been extremely pleased with the services and meals provided by Bar Smakosz and cherish the friendship we have developed with Halina and Henryk over the past ten years. I cannot think of anyone else who could have carried out our Hot Meal-A-Day Program with more love and devotion to our kids. Thank you Halina, Henryk and all the PromiseLand Kitchen staff for the great job you do every school day for our PromiseKids! You’re the best!

MOVE ONE TRUCK CARRYING BRITISH SCHOOL CLOTHING ARRIVES IN PROMISELAND

We would like to thank the British School Parent Teachers Association in Warsaw for organizing a clothes collection for the second time this year for our PromiseKids. Thanks to the generousity of Foundation member Move One and General Manager Piotr Piekarowicz, 30 boxes of clothing for babies, boys, girls, men and women, arrived in the Promiseland last week. The clothing was collected by the British School Parent Teachers Association with the support and assistance of Bartosz Rajewski - Move One employee. The moms sorted and packed the clothing, and the British School students helped clean and match all of the shoes.

We thank Sharon Dry for her incredible leadership in organizing the clothing drive. You know these British School Mums, are remarkable people, and we thank our own Basia and Meg who have already selected the PromiseFamilies that will receive the clothing and shoes. You guys are the best…

SPORTS CAMP FOR PROMISEKIDS SPONSORED BY GHELAMCO AUGUST 1-2nd

Under the leadership of Ghelamco CEO Jeroen van de Toolen, developer Ghelamco will sponsor a two day summer camp for 30 students from our Oparzno PromiseLand School on August 1-2nd. The 10-12 year old students are so excited they can hardly control themselves until the August date arrives.

The PromiseKids will stay at Marysienka Resort in Jaroslawiec which is located approximately 200m from the Baltic Sea and only a 5 minute walk to the beach. Jaroslawiec is about 120 km away from the village of Swidwin. Actually, Jaroslawiec is a small village of 300 people in which the biggest attraction is the recently opened Aquapark. A special thanks goes to member company Coca Cola for providing drinks, and to member company Fanex for providing ketchup, mustard and a variety of delicious sauces for the kid’s meals and campfire.

We thank you Jeroen and staff of Ghelamco for providing this very special camp experience for our Oparzno School PromiseKids.

LETTER TO MCDONALD’S FROM THE KIDS AT BRZEZNO SCHOOL

Dear McDonald’s:

What a wonderful trip it was! We left the school on Tuesday morning and went to Kołobrzeg on a comfortable minivan. The weather in Brzeżno wasn’t nice but as soon as we got to the seaside, the sun started shining. Everyone was excited as we got on the ship. It was an unforgettable experience for kids like us. Then we went to Koszalin, where we watched a film at the Multikino and had lunch at McDonald’s. We felt so special that we were given the opportunity to go on such trip! Thank you very much! It is good to know that there are people who care about us. You are the best McDonald’s!
