BACK TO SCHOOL IN THE PROMISELAND

We welcome all of you back to school after a long-hot summer of fun and festivities. All of our PromiseKids from our 10 PromiseLand Schools are excited and ready to meet the challenges of the new school year. We are pleased to renew our weekly newsletter with some news from the summer break, and lots of new dates for the fall and winter semesters. So, let’s get on with it…

THE WARSAW HILTON HOTEL AND CONVENTION CENTER WILL ONCE AGAIN HOST OUR FOUNDATION’S ANNUAL DINNER DANCE

Hilton Hotel General Manager, Erwin Verhoog, announced this week that the Hilton Hotel will once again sponsor our Foundation’s Annual Dinner Dance. We at the Foundation look forward to seeing all of you again at the event that has captured the Warsaw Social calendar. The Dinner Dance will get underway on February 3, 2014 at 18:30. Be sure to put this date down in your “Must Do” calendars, and it’s never too early to reserve a table or two for this extraordinary evening. Our regular attendees will be pleased to know that the “best band in the land,” 36.6 will once again play for our musical and dancing pleasure.

On behalf of our Foundation’s members and friends, I would like to thank Erwin and his incredible staff for making this major commitment to our Foundation. Hilton’s Sponsorship of the Dinner Dance includes: rooms and meals for our 50 PromiseKids, the use of the Hilton Grand Ballroom, and a 5-star dinner for our expected 600 Dinner Dance Guests.

Dinner Dance auditions in the PromiseLand will begin in the next 2 weeks, and rehearsals will commence shortly thereafter. This is our major social event of the year, and our only fundraiser. Be sure to make your table reservations as soon as possible. The cost of the evening hasn’t changed in the past 11 years: 240 PLN per person, or 2,400 PLN for a table for 10 guests.

SPORTS CAMP FOR PROMISEKIDS SPONSORED BY GHELAMCO AUGUST 1-2nd

Under the leadership of Ghelamco’s CEO Jeroen van de Toolen, Member Company Ghelamco sponsored a two day summer camp for 24 primary students from Oparzno and Lekowo PromiseLand Schools on August 1-2nd.

The PromiseKids stayed at Marysienka Resort in Jaroslawiec which is located approximately 200m from the Baltic Sea and only a 5 minute walk to the beach.

The PromiseKids spent an unforgettable 2 days playing games: kickboxing, dance classes, volleyball and many outside activities. For most of our kids it was their first time at the seaside. The highlight and biggest attraction was the newly opened Aquapark. Our kids never knew such attractions existed and they got full use of the Aquapark.

A special thanks goes to member company Coca Cola for providing drinks, and to member company Fanex for providing ketchup, mustard and a variety of delicious sauces for the kid’s meals.

We thank you Jeroen and the staff of Ghelamco for providing this very special camp experience for our Oparzno & Lekowo School PromiseKids.

INTERCONTINENTAL HOTEL SCHOLARS TAKE OVER WARSAW
...living the InterContinental Life!

6th InterContinental Scholarship Program

The top 10 scholars from our PromiseLand schools were the guests of the InterContinental Hotel in Warsaw from August 23-26th. Each of our PromiseLand Schools selected their best all-around student to qualify as an InterContinental Scholar and boarded a bus for a trip of a lifetime.

This was the 6th year in a row that the InterContinental Hotel hosted the InterContinental Scholars Program for our PromiseKids. The kids graduated from their respective schools and prepared for this life-changing 3-night 4 day trip they will never forget. We speak for all the Scholars when we say: "InterContinental, you are the best!" We'd like to express our gratitude to the Geneneral Manager of the InterContinental Hotel, Marten Schoenrock, for this special gift to our PromiseKids. Special thanks go to KFC Polska and General Manager of KFC Złote Tarasy - Elżbieta Krasuska for organizing delicious meals; our kids love it!

We thought you would like to see the faces of these great kids as they experienced the InterContinental life in Warsaw

Now, I say, that is what they mean when they say “Living the InterContinental Life.”

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

"I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are."
