We were surprised and delighted to receive this artistic “thank you” note from Anna, of the Nowo Worowo School in the PromiseLand. This was how the students and faculty expressed their appreciation for the school cleaning supplies they received from us and our super member company Colgate Palmolive.
Basia visited the Makro Store in Koszalin this week to see how the new Christmas Campaign was progressing. She was ecstatic and sent along the following photos of the Makro promotion. The campaign posters will adorn all 25 Makro Cash & Carry stores in Poland from December 9th – 22nd.
We are so pleased that Makro decided to conduct the 2-week fundraising campaign on behalf of our Foundation’s PromiseKids again this year. We trust our Foundation’s members and friends will visit their local Makro store this Christmas season and help support our Kids.

Thanks to the generosity of the Western District KFC managers, 24 of our Preschool PromiseKids from Nowo Worowo School celebrated Santa Day in Szczecin on December 12th. The kids spent an unforgettable day at the Galaxy Shopping Mall.
They first visited the Multikino Theater and saw the celebrated movie "Kraina Lodu." This was the first time these 5-year olds had ever been in a movie theater or a shopping mall for that matter. They stuffed themselves with popcorn and soft drinks and thoroughly enjoyed the total experience. The KFC Managers treated our little kids like they were VIPs.
Lunch was served at the KFC sister Restaurant Pizza Hut and the kids experienced the culinary delights of Pizza, French Fries, and Ice Cream. And yes, the highlight of the day was a visit from Santa Claus bearing gifts from their super KFC hosts. As you can see from the following photos, the kids wore their KFC t-shirts and KFC Santa hats. As a final surprise, each kid received a carry-out bucket of KFC chicken wings to take home to their families. They kids returned home exhausted but they will never forget this incredible Santa day.
The Santa Trip was the idea of Bartek Szuas, District Coach of KFC West, and Wojciech Zapałacz's, Area Coach of KFC West. We thank the following KFC Managers for making this trip a reality:
Mariusz Pentela Manager of KFC Rodła,
Marlena Lizut Manager of KFC Kaskada,
Agnieszka Pisarek Manager of KFC Stare Brynki,
Agnieszka Słoboda Manager of KFC Makro,
Alicja Stachurska Manager of KFC Kołbaskowo,
Agnieszka Jakubek Manager of KFC Ryga,
Paweł Stojek Manager of KFC Struga
Tomek Kapusta Manager of KFC Galaxy
We were thrilled when former PromiseKid Marcin Raulin was invited to speak about our Foundation at the AmRest 20th Anniversary Celebration in Istanbul Turkey. We were even more thrilled to hear that Marcin turned out to be one of the most talked about speakers at this gathering of AmRest dignitaries from around the world. AmRest is the parent company of KFC, Pizza Hut, Starbucks, etc. and has been major supporter of our Foundation from its inception 11 years ago.
Corporate Social Responsibility was a “Hot” topic at the AmRest Celebration and Marcin discussed the work of our Foundation in Poland, and the impact of our Hot-Meal program on his life.
It seems just like yesterday that Natalie, Meg and Basia were preparing Marcin for an incredible journey to the United States as a Ronald Reagan Scholar. Not only was he selected for the Reagan Scholars Program over many other European students, he turned out to be the “star” of the two-week adventure that took him around the USA from Washington, D.C. to Los Angeles.
AmRest is primarily based in Wrocław and operates in Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Russia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Spain, France, Germany and the United States. AmRest runs close to 700 restaurants. The company had its initial public offering on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in 2005.
We can’t thank AmRest Leaders, Henry McGovern, Drew O’Malley, and Olgierd Danielewicz, enough for making this opportunity available to Marcin, and for their continued support of our Foundation’s Hot-Meal program.
Mysiadlo School has once again come up big and collected presents for the PromiseLand children. This year, the Santa from Mysiadlo will arrive in our Netno school. We want to be sure to give a special thanks to Michalina Gajewska who organized the Christmas gift collection.
Our Dollar a Day program may be just what you have been looking for and the PayPal method of delivering your money makes it so easy. We pay just about $1.00 to feed one hungry Polish child a hot-meal per school day, $20.00 per month, $200.00 per year. Click PayPal below to contribute.
