WELCOME TO HILTONWOOD

I awoke early Thursday morning to see just who the 2013 Academy Award Nominees would be. There were no surprises for me, and although our PromiseKids will be presenting some of Hollywood’s Academy Award winning songs and dances at our Annual Dinner Dance on February 3rd, I’m sorry to say there will be no Oscars on our Foundation’s mantle this year.

This is not to say that our PromiseKids don’t think they are in the running for the “Best Musical” award from Hollywood’s elite. They have been rehearsing just like they are one of the finalists competing for a much coveted gold statuette.

We plan to have our own awards ceremony at our 11th Annual Dinner Dance hosted by the Warsaw Hilton Hotel and Convention Center. The trip to Warsaw for our 40 PromiseKids will be the highlight of their young lives, and final preparations have reached a mad fervor. Costumes (see below) have been carefully fitted and every part of the program has been committed to memory. Only a few days left before the PromiseKids board the bus that will take them to an extraordinary adventure.

The Hilton Staff is busy planning a delectable menu, designing the ballroom and polishing up the dance floor for our guests. The “best band in the land”, 36.6, is ready to go.

As in previous years, we don’t issue tickets. We ask that table holders submit a list of their guests so we can easily identify them at the door. Ours is not a “Black Tie” event, and business casual attire will be just perfect for the occasion. The price of a table for 10 guests (2,400 PLN) is all inclusive of beer, wine, 5-star Hilton dinner, and a star-studded production of Hollywood’s greatest music. Individual tickets sell for 240 PLN each.

The rest is up to you! If you don’t have seats reserved for the Dinner Dance, do it now.

NEW EMPHASIS ON SMALL POLISH COMPANIES AND FAMILIES

Poland will become the most competitive country in Europe, Prime Minister Donald Tusk said while presenting his government's goals for the next two years. He explained that the government's plan is to invest in small Polish companies and start-ups, and to support Polish intellectual capital.

The PM said that Poland now has the chance to make a civilized leap, but one that people should benefit from. The period of infrastructure building is nearing its end, he said, and now is the time for all of us to contribute to people's well-being. Funds from the new EU budget should go to Polish families, Mr. Tusk stressed. He added that he would make sure that ministers' efforts take effect in well-paid and secure jobs for ordinary Poles. The government's plan is to support Polish families, Polish children, and public education. State offices should serve people instead of ruling over them, the PM said.
