Newsletter November 21, 2016 Vol. 14 No. 5
You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and … your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God…This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.
This newsletter will be short, as all of us in the United Sates will be celebrating THANKSGIVING this week. It is a time when families and friends gather around the dinner table and the hearth to enjoy each other, tell family stories, share in a delicious meal and most of all, give thanks for all the blessings we have received throughout the year.
We have followed this tradition since the Pilgrims celebrated it in 1621, after landing in America in 1620 and surviving a very difficult first year in the New World. A celebration was held to say thank you to the Native Americans who had helped them plant their first crops and now shared in the harvest.
We at the Foundation give thanks for all of our supporters, staff, teachers, directors and most of all, our PromiseKids who encourage us and bring us great joy all year.
And we give thanks for our wonderful Advisory Council members who came together last week for our annual fall meeting.
The FCSR’s Fall Advisory Council Meeting was held on November 9 (in Poland), hosted by the Intercontinental Hotel, Warsaw. (Please see our website for the list of Advisory member companies.) Since President Virginia Chasey was unable to attend in person, the meeting was held by teleconference between Warsaw and California.
It made for an interesting evening as it was Election Night in the States and morning in Poland! Everyone was high on adrenaline as the results were coming in. Nevertheless, we managed to get our business done!
It was wonderful to see everyone together again. So many members have been with us since the beginning – 15 years ago! As Bill Chasey, our Founder would have said: “We must be doing something right!” and for sure, “You are the best!”
Malgorzata Ciucka, FCSR Operations Director, gave a very detailed “State of the Foundation “report. The Foundation is in good stance financially and our major programs continue, from the KFC “Little Chef”, to the English On-Line Course – “Dreams Come True”, to our dance and music performances/competitions and the ICH Scholars Program. In addition, as noted in the last newsletter, we have sponsored some local sports teams in our area. The 1% Polish charitable tax contributions were a wonderful success this year. “Thank you” to all the companies that asked their employees to support the Foundation with their tax dollars!
One item of discussion was the celebration of the 15th Anniversary of the Foundation in 2017. It looks like we may have a big announcement in our next newsletter, so stay tuned…Plans are underway!
