Christmas, my child, is love in action. Every time we love, every time we give, it's Christmas.
- Dale Evans
Yes, it’s the most wonderful time of the year, as we begin to prepare and celebrate the Christmas season. Our PromiseKids, teachers and FCSR staff are busy decorating their schools and homes, rehearsing for Christmas programs and getting into the spirit of the season. However, for so many of our families in the PromiseLand, Christmas is a difficult time. Therefore, we want to thank our supporters in advance for remembering our kids this holiday with gifts from Giving Tree, your financial donations and all your encouragement – perfect examples of your “love in action”!
On November 11, our Foundation received an Honorary Distinction Award for Community Service, from the Swidwin Urban District Council, at the Ceremonial Council meeting. The presentation was made by Swidwin District Governor, Miroslaw Majka and Swidwin District Council Chairwoman, Danuta Malitowska. We are truly grateful for this honor and recognition.
FCSR Operations Director, Malgorzarta Ciucka and FCSR Arts and Dance Director, Basia Kolasinska, accepted the award on behalf of the Foundation. They also showed a film describing the Foundation’s history and FCSR’s contributions to the schools and kids in the Swidwin area.
The ceremony can be viewed on YouTube at the address below. Our portion of the event begins at 32:30. There are some very moving pictures of FCSR Founder, Bill Chasey as well as a wonderful montage of the Foundation’s work. Thank you Meg and Basia for representing us so well!
We are pleased to announce the conclusion of the fifth edition of the "We Can Dance in the PromiseLand” Program, the Foundation’s initiative to help promote dance as a daily part of an active, healthy lifestyle. This competition has become one of the most favorite programs among all of our PromiseKids in all our schools. This year Primary Town School No. 1 in Świdwin even asked to join the program. Over 150 PromiseKids from all of the regional schools were eligible to participate. The rules were the same as in the famous TV Show. Talented dancers skilled in everything from Hip Hop, Krumping and Popping to Salsa, Quickstep and Jive competed to be named the PromiseLand's Best Dancers.
On the 17th of November, 120 kids who were selected during the first auditions were given a pass and moved on to the final round held in the Lekowo School. There they performed solo and group dance numbers in a variety of dance styles.
FCSR Arts and Dance Director, Basia Kolasinska, did a fantastic job of organizing the event. A big thanks to the Directors and teachers at all the schools for their support and cooperation and especially to Jakub Szynkowski, Director of the Lekowo School and his assistant, Roza Tabaszewska for their help in organizing the final competitions in their school. And to the jury: Joanna Anglisz-Myszka Vice Commune Head in Swidwin, Dorota Adamiak Director of Education in the Swidwin Commune Office and Basia Kolasinska. A special thanks to FCSR members Coca Cola for supplying the Cappy drinks for all participants and Colgate Palmolive and CEO Wojciech Krol, for all the cleaning supplies. FCSR provided Teddy Bears and medals to all the winners.
Congratulations to all the dancers! You are the best!
