Peace. It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of all those things and still be calm in your heart.

WELCOME BACK DEEPAK AGARWAL!

Just who is Deepak Agarwal and why is he visiting us from India you might ask...

Over the years, the Foundation and its member companies have taken on many interesting projects to bring not only the English language, but also a vision of the larger world, to our PromiseKids.

In 2006 and 2007, the Foundation, in partnership with member company Tetley Polska and the Student Association at Warsaw University, participated in a program that brought 28 international PEACE (People’s Enthusiasm Acting for Cultural Education) students from around the world on an 8-week mission, to teach English and share their cultures with Polish students in 45 schools across the country. Five of our PromiseSchools participated in the program.

Our own Basia Kolasinska, FCSR Arts and Dance Director, was a part of the 2007 program, attended by Deepak Agarwal from India. They have remained friends on Facebook for the past ten years. He has always been interested in following what “his kids” have gone on to do. Last week he came with his wife and two-year-old son to visit the PromiseLand and the Brzezno and Oparzno Schools. What a delightful reunion!

Deepak was so impressed by the changes and progress that has been made since his first visit, but also he was happy to experience the same friendship and warm welcome he felt ten years ago! Poland and its children remain in his heart. Who knows, maybe one of our children will visit him someday!

It is so heartwarming to see the work of the Foundation touch the lives of so many, even across the world.

FCSR GALA GAINING STEAM!

Which brings to mind our September Gala...

FCSR staff, Advisory Board members, Marta Was and Craig Smith have been working very closely with GM Marten Schoenrock, and the Intercontinental Hotel staff to make this an evening you will never forget!

In fact, Deepak’s visit reminds us of the purpose of this year’s Gala – to raise scholarship funds to send our PromiseKids on educational exchange visits to the United States, to build cultural bridges, while becoming immersed in the English language.

The wonderful successes of our students, Małgorzata Gibert, Andrzej Mikułko and Marcin Raulinare living testimony to the value of these programs, and something our Founder, Bill Chasey, believed in so strongly.

Initially the plan would call for students to spend two weeks in San Diego, CA (home of FCSR President, Virginia Chasey) with a host family and attend classes at a Foundation approved school. In addition, the students would experience a number of cultural and historical opportunities with their American counterparts. We are very excited about this program and look to you, our members and supporters to support this Gala corporately and individually. Mark your calendars right now – Saturday, September 23!
