"The greatest legacy one can pass on to one's children and grandchildren is not money or other material things accumulated in one's life, but rather a legacy of character and faith."
-- Billy Graham

CHARACTER AND FAITH

Two years ago tomorrow, on May 23, 2015, FCSR Founder and President, Dr. Bill Chasey passed away. He was a man of great character and faith, legacies he not only wished to pass on to his own family, but also to the children he grew to love in Northwest Poland. In addition, he wanted these children to dream big and accomplish much in their lives and so he called them “his” PromiseKids.

On a much larger scale, he asked our member companies to apply these same virtues to their business practices, to be “socially responsible” in the communities they served. And, they answered the call, supporting FCSR educational and enrichment programs for our PromiseKids and their schools in this very needy area.

Bill would be very pleased to see that the legacy lives on, as the Foundation celebrates its fifteen-year anniversary this September. As he was known to say a time or two to children and CEOs alike, “You’re the best”! And you are…

FINALISTS SELECTED FOR “LITTLE CHEF” COOK OFF

Excitement ran through the halls of the four schools competing in the semi-finals of the “Little Chef” Program last week! Fifty contestants were vying for the final twelve slots! With sharpened knives, cutting boards and bowls at the ready, the contest began...

Each “chef” had to prepare one nutritious meal: a sandwich, a vegetable dish or a fruit salad. They were allowed to bring their recipes, but had to prepare the meals in front of the judges. The judges considered the esthetics, ingredients, cutting and prep skills and of course, taste! Not an easy task! In the end, 3 very happy children from each of the participating schools: Oparzno, Bierzwnica, Brzezno and Nowe Worowo, were selected.

As a reward, on May 30, all 12 semi-finalists will go to the Szczecin KFC Restaurant "Mic-Mag" where they will spend an afternoon having lunch and touring “behind the scenes” in the KFC kitchen and ending the day with a movie at the mall. The kids absolutely can’t wait to go! It will be extra special day...

Looking ahead, on June 6, the “terrific twelve” will take part in finals for the title of "Top Little Chef". This time they will have to create an original meal, not one presented during the workshops! Should be fun!

Special thanks to AmRest Sp. z o.o. company, especially Iwona Sarachman, CE PR Manager of AmRest and Wojciech Zapalacz, KFC Szczecin Area Coach 1 for their sponsorship, and FCSR member company Fanex Polska Sp. z o.o. GM Roman Kubiczek and Sales Director Bożena Sajnog for donating their products to the program.

FCSR PARTICIPATES IN LOCAL DISABILITY DAY

On May 18, FCSR Operations Manager, Meg Ciucka and FCSR Arts and Music Director, Basia Kolasinska, along with many local officials, were invited to participate in a program at the Slawoborze School of Special Education. The purpose of the program was to celebrate the International Day of Protection of Persons With Disabilities, held throughout Europe during the month of May and to thank individuals and organizations who have supported the school.

This year’s slogan was “Stop Disability Cuts”. The network of organizations working in many European countries with disabled children and adults are calling on their communities to respect the special needs of persons with different types of disabilities and to recognize the importance of providing them with an environment in which they can equally participate in all spheres of life.

We are proud of the fact that our Foundation has been able to make a difference in the lives of these very special “PromiseKids”!
