AND SO MUCH JOY TO BE FOUND IN THE PROMISELAND!

From September 20-26, I had the privilege to be back in Poland and visit with our Foundation staff, school directors and teachers, and of course our PromiseKids. It was a wonderful homecoming, a time of celebration and fond memories – celebrating 15 years of Foundation work in this remote part of Poland.

It was a great time of joy indeed – sharing stories of the beginnings of the Foundation when my late husband met with the school directors about this “crazy scheme” that somehow Multinational companies and Polish companies would be interested in feeding and educating needy Polish children in Northwest Poland!! Nobody believed it possible. But it happened. Companies from KFC, McDonald’s, Exxon Mobil, Colgate Palmolive to Arcadis, Cargill, Fanex, Expo XXI, too many to list here signed up to “make a difference” in the lives of these kids and their families, providing over 4 million hot meals, English language programs, music and dance, remodeling classrooms, nutrition workshops, etc. Throughout this next year, we will highlight all those companies who have contributed so much.

What was important now was to see the difference and the impact the Foundation has had on the schools and the lives of our PromiseKids, to hear from the directors and teachers – but most importantly from the children. At every school I asked how many children participated in each of our programs – so many hands went up, so many times. Remember, our programs are only offered after school, which means staying late and getting home late to tiny villages many miles away…But for many it is the lifeblood, the joy of their lives

I was truly re-energized and so grateful to all our sponsors who have donated money, resources and time to our programs. If I haven’t said it enough: “Thank you from the bottom of my heart!” And let us continue…Our job is not done.

Sincerely,

Virginia Chasey
