Christmas gift suggestions:

To your enemy, forgiveness.
To an opponent, tolerance.
To a friend, your heart.
To a customer, service.
To all, charity.
To every child, a good example.
To yourself, respect.

Dear Members, Friends and Supporters,

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

As we enter the season of giving, I want to personally thank each and every one of you who have given to our – your – foundation this past year. You should be very proud of the opportunities and programs you have provided to our PromiseKids. As you read and see the joy and happiness on their faces, please know you are making a difference in their lives everyday.

The greatest example we can give our children is a giving heart.

Thank you for yours.

On November 23rd, FCSR staff, Meg Ciucka and Basia Kolasinska, celebrated the International Day of the Teddy Bear at The Special School for Disabled Children in Sławoborze. The small group of 12 early education kids had a great time dancing and reading stories about teddy bears. To make the event even more memorable, each child received his/her own teddy bear from the Foundation.

Then, on December 6th, FCSR Arts Director, Basia Kolasinska, played Santa Claus at the school, distributing gifts and bringing joy to the smallest children at Slawoborze.

Sławoborze Special School:

We always look forward to being with these children and supporting their teachers and parents. The Director of Slawoborze, Dororota Daglis, does a marvelous job and is always so appreciative of the compassion and care the Foundation gives to her students.

There are not enough words to truly thank our wonderful friends and families at the British School in Warsaw, Parent and Teacher Association for their kindness and generosity towards our PromiseKids at Christmas. For the 8th year in a row, they have dedicated their charity collection from the school’s “Christmas Giving Tree” to the Foundation. And, for the second year in a row, students and teachers from the school will be arriving today, December 10, to personally distribute the gifts to 283 kids from 2 of our schools: 125 children at the Lekowo School and 138 children at Nowe Worowo.

In addition to playing Santa, the twelve students, ages 12-15, and their teachers will spend two days participating in classes, mingling and making new friendships with Polish students and teachers, touring historic sites in the Swidwin area and enjoying dinner with FCSR staff, teachers and local families.

What an amazing time it will be for all! You cannot believe how excited the PromiseKids are to meet these students coming all the way from Warsaw to celebrate the holidays with them and how grateful we are for their giving hearts.

Almost 100 kids performed and showed off their dancing skills last week in the Grand Finale of the We Can Dance competition, sponsored by FCSR and under the direction of FCSR Arts Director, Basia Kolasinska. Six schools participated: Mielenko Drawskie, Nowe Worowo, Nętno, Lekowo, Bierzwnica and Brzeżno.

The competition was tough, especially among the teenagers. It seems the level of skills and talent gets higher every year! The competition took place at the Lekowo Primary School (thank you Principal Danuta Bywalec), in cooperation with the Lekowo Students and Teachers Association (special thanks to Monika Wąsowicz – Piekarska), who were responsible for arranging the music and sound system.

This event is always a highlight of the entire school year and means so much to our PromiseKids. Thank you, as always, to Basia for all her hard work, helping the students to do their best and driving to all the schools every day! A special thanks to all of you who dedicated your 1% charity tax collection to the Foundation.  In addition to supporting our Robotics Program, we were able to provide lovely certificates and prizes to the winners of the We Can Dance competition this year.

We Can Dance 2017:

We have just concluded our annual FCSR Christmas Card-Making Competition and boy, are they ever clever and beautiful! Over 300 outstanding cards were submitted by our PromiseKids. Basia and FCSR Operations Director, Meg Ciucka are in the process of selecting the winning cards – not an easy task! Results will be announced any day now.

Please check your mailboxes as we’ve already started sending these wonderful Christmas cards to FCSR member companies and friends! A small, but heartfelt thanks from our kids for all you do for them…

The FCSR Robotics Program is off to a good start! Thanks to the donations collected at the CEE Investments Awards Gala in October, we were able to buy a set of 6 ozobots (smart robots) for the Nowe Worowo School. They should arrive before Christmas and be ready for action at the start of the New Year!

Our goal is to implement FCSR’s “Say Yes to Robotics at Schools” program at all five of our village schools. If you would like to be a partner or sponsor of this program, please contact Program Coordinator and FCSR Executive Director, Marta Was, TODAY! Mob. +48 668 331 107
