“Last day of school: pencils – tiny, erasers – flat, glue – empty, folders – fat; crayons – broken, desk – neat, memories – forever, year – complete.
Dear Friends, FCSR Members, and Supporters,
Yes, another great school year has come to an end. It was indeed a different conclusion to the year with the teachers’ strike last month throughout Poland, but the kids and teachers returned to the classroom determined to finish the year on a positive note and with great enthusiasm.
Take a moment to peruse our website and past newsletters. Take a look at all the activities of the past year from our new Robotics Program to the You Can Dance contests, to the Little Chef workshops and special events throughout the year. I hope you feel a great deal of satisfaction knowing that YOU made a difference here in the PromiseLand for so many children, who would not otherwise have had these opportunities.
On behalf of all our PromiseKids, their families, teachers, school Directors and FCSR staff, I want to personally thank you for all the “memories” you have provided for our kids to enjoy, enrich and expand their hopes, dreams and learning these past 10 months. We could not have done it without your financial help, commitment and prayers.
Here are just a few of the closing activities wrapping up the 2018-2019 school year…

LITTLE CHEF GRAND FINALE A GASTRONOMIC SUCCESS
June has been a busy month for our “little chefs” as they prepared for the semi- finals and then the finals on June 13 and 14 in five schools. The sound of blenders whirring and knives chopping filled the school halls after school, not to mention the nervous chit chatter amongst the first timers and exchange of tips from past competitors.
In the semifinals, 15 top chefs were selected by a panel of judges. Their reward was a trip to the KFC Restaurant in Szczecin where they had a behind the scenes tour of the fast food kitchen, enjoyed lunch and had fun playing games with the restaurant staff. A grand time was had by all! Thank you to Agnieszka Pisarek the GM of „MIC&MAG” KFC Szczecin Restaurant.
The highly anticipated FINALS competitions were held on June 13 and 14. The 15 competitors were given an assortment of fruits and vegetables, supplies and spices they had not cooked with before. Within an allotted time, they had to create a fruit and a vegetable salad and a dessert before the judges. Three “little chefs” were successful in appealing to the judges’ palettes and took home the honors and prizes, including their own blenders, chef hats and aprons!

A special thanks to AMREST Restaurants, especially „MIC&MAG” KFC Szczecin and its GM Agnieszka Pisarek, Wojciech Zapalacz GM of West District, and most of all Ewelina Jabłońska – Gryżenia AmRest CSR Manager, for so graciously and generously supporting this program for the past 4 years.
THANK YOU SCM!
Most of us enjoy the day to day consumption of retail products, but rarely do we understand just how these products get to their point of sale. Behind the scenes, for each consumer product is a supply chain that is responsible for the selection, ordering, receiving, storing, and making sure that the various products are delivered to each retail outlet fresh and on time.
This is just what SCM does for a large number of famous retail restaurant giants like Foundation member AmRest, parent company of KFC and Pizza Hut, not only in Poland, but in other countries in Europe. SCM is an innovative food supply chain & quality Assurance provider. Through 14 years of its existence, it has built a leading position in Central and Eastern Europe.
The SCM team focuses on providing excellence in the areas of food safety, complex logistics, efficient usage of assets, people and capital in supply chain processes. It is able to deliver demanding purchase objectives to its clients as experts in market trends analysis.
From the beginning, the company has been led by Zbigniew Cylny who created an environment where innovation thrives. Currently the company has entered a new stage by not only expanding the scope of its services across European countries, but adding new products and packaging development services to its portfolio.
“SCM has achieved a leading position in its segment, but it still has a long way to go and further develop”, commented visionary Managing Partner, Zbigniew Cylny. Indeed, the company is growing dynamically year to year improving in both revenue and EBITA.
We, at the Foundation for Corporate Social Responsibility, wish them lots of success. SCM is truly a great example of corporate social responsibility, not only supporting our Foundation, but the Spark Foundation, Children’s Home in Chotomow and the Julian Cochran Foundation.
Thank you for all you do to help Polish children in need! We are proud to have you as a member of FCSR. On behalf of the PromiseKids, you need to know how much you are appreciated!
INTERCONTINENTAL HOTEL WARSAW TO HOST FCSR SCHOLARS
For the 12th year in a row, during the month of August, the Intercontinental Hotel Warsaw will host the two top Scholar/Citizenship students from each of our PromiseLand Schools. These students have not only been recognized for their academic achievements, but also for their citizenship and leadership skills.
They will spend a weekend as guests of the hotel, learn about the hotel and restaurant business, tour the cultural and historical sites of Warsaw and even receive swimming lessons in the beautiful hotel pool, situated on the 43rd floor, overlooking the panorama of Warsaw. What an experience!
Thank you Marten Schoenrock GM of the Intercontinental Hotel and Magdalena Leociak, PR manager for making this “dream” come true for some very special PromiseKids!
