You’re off to great places. Today is your day. Your mountain is waiting, so… get on your way!

INTO THE HOMESTRETCH…

Dear Members, Supporters and Friends,
As I perused the aisles of greeting cards recently, I couldn’t help but notice all the graduation congratulations, gifts, party supplies, etc. with their messages of success, achievement and well wishes for the future. I thought about our PromiseKids today and the thousands of PromiseKids we have worked with over the past 16 years. Thanks to your help, so many have gone from poverty to success, from timidity to self-confidence, from weakness to strength and from despair to hope. Another wave of our kids will be graduating in just a few weeks’ time. Our thoughts and prayers will be with them as they face final exams and graduations at every level!
Blessings,

LESSONS ON HEALTHY LIVING

In helping to “spread the word” and encourage healthy living, FCSR held a competition at the Nielep School, just before the Easter break. Students who had participated in the KFC sponsored “The Little Chef” program, throughout the school year, were invited to create leaflets on the “do’s and don’ts” of healthy living. Sixty primary students participated in the project, producing some very creative brochures, with very sound advice! Meg Ciucka, FCSR Operations Director, and Basia Kolasinska, FCSR Arts Director, selected the top four winners, who received gifts from the Foundation for their wonderful work.

THANK YOU WARSAW VOICE!

We can never thank enough Juliusz Kłosowski, GM of the Warsaw Voice newspaper for his continuous support over the years – from the very beginning of the Foundation. Once again they have demonstrated their care and concern for our PromiseKids by featuring the FCSR 1% campaign in their latest edition. This is the last opportunity for Polish companies and their employees, as well as FCSR supporters throughout Poland, to designate 1% of their taxes to support the Foundation. Remember: 1% can make a 100% difference in the lives of our PromiseKids. Thank you!

FCSR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR REACHES OUT TO WARSAW BUSINESS COMMUNITY

Marta Was, FCSR Executive Director, has been busy in Warsaw reaching out to businesses in the community and sharing the Foundation’s story. Many companies based in the cosmopolitan Polish capitol are unaware of the poverty that exists in the countryside and outlying regions. It is important to get that story out and no one can do it better than Marta.

Recently she took part in the Responsible Business Fair at the Warsaw National Stadium http://odpowiedzialnybiznes.pl/english She also was a guest at the “Second Annual CEE Mergers and Acquisitions Awards” at the Intercontinental Warsaw Hotel, hosted by long time FCSR supporter, Craig Smith, Publisher of EuropaProperties: publications and events throughout Central and Eastern Europe http://www.ceemaawards.com/

Keep up the good work Marta!

COMING UP…

May 10 – Second Annual Polish Song Festival, organized by the Swidwin Commune. FCSR Arts Director, Basia Kolasinska and her “Panther” band are in rehearsals right now. They will   perform the lively song “Steamship” (Parostatek). Good Luck Basia and our PromiseKids! We know you will do a great job!

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due time we will reap a harvest, if we do not give up.
